Papoutsanis, a leading Greek company in the personal care market, announced the acquisition of 100% of "Arkadi" Soap Factory.

With this agreement, which is fully aligned with its philosophy and business strategy, Papoutsanis enters the clothing care and general purpose cleaning markets, simultaneously strengthening its product portfolio and its presence in the Greek market.

Mr. Menelaos Tasopoulos, CEO of Papoutsanis ABEE, commented on this: "With the acquisition of the "Arkadi" soap factory and the common starting point of Greek identity, tradition, innovation and the excellent quality of our products, we are taking a historic step in our long history of Papoutsani. We utilize our experience and know-how in new markets, strengthen our already dynamic path, consistently implementing our development strategy".

Mrs. Maria Malikoutis, President and Managing Director of "Arkadi" Soap Factory, emphasized that: "Two of the oldest and most historic soap factories in the country with common principles are joining forces. The agreement with Papoutsanis, the culmination of an already long-term and excellent collaboration, comes at an important moment for ARKADI and opens new prospects for further dynamic growth in Greece and abroad, with sustainability and innovation as the main axes."

It is noted that the "Arkadi" soap factory, was founded in 1946, has the complete line of ARKADI products for cleaning clothes and the home as well as for personal care with pure, natural, vegan and internationally certified products.

In 1946, Georgios Malikoutis founded the soap factory called “Arkadi”, a name given to honor the historic Arkadi Monastery in Rethymno, as well as to the Arkadi province, famous for its olive oil production. The company started making white soaps, in large white plates, the “tampacas”, as well as shavings and flakes, from the olive oil of the area that was left unused due to its high acidity. So, at a time when the production was mainly consisted of green soap, the “Arkadi” soap factory was differentiated.
