The total passenger traffic in Greek airports ended with a marginal drop for 2022 compared to 2019, while there was a marginal increase in the total number of flights.

Specifically, according to the data of the Civil Aviation Service (CAA) for all the airports of our country (Athens "Eleftherios Venizelos" airport, 24 airports managed by CAA, 14 regional airports managed by Fraport Greece), it appears that for the 12 months of 2022 in Greece 529,235 flights were carried out, compared to 526,155 in 2019, with the air traffic index showing a marginal increase of +0.6%.

Regarding the total number of passengers (international and domestic arrivals and departures), the data for the year 2022 show that 63,493,375 million passengers were transported, compared to 64,169,005 in 2019, marking a marginal decrease of -1.1%.

In particular, from the statistics so far on the passenger traffic of the 24 regional airports that belong to the management of the Civil Aviation Service (CAA), in the semester May-October 2022, the following emerges: The total number of passengers handled for the period of summer period May-October 2022 amounted to 8,857,010, showing an increase of 4.06 % compared to the corresponding period of 2019 where 8,511,237 passengers had been transported.

Regarding the flights of the 24 airports, they reached 72,937, recording a marginal increase of 0.86%, compared to the corresponding period of 2019 where 72,317 flights had taken place.
