Strategic Importance for Principia

The first operational BESS unit in Principia’s portfolio and one of the country’s pioneering BESS projects

The project bears the symbolic name "Themelio" (Foundation), highlighting its role as the company’s foundational step in energy storage

Enhances Principia’s technological diversification and adaptability in a more flexible and demanding energy landscape

Reinforces the company’s commitment to energy innovation and sustainable investments, focusing on energy storage—a key element for maximizing the value of renewable energy sources (RES)

Benefits for the System & Market

Reduction of power curtailments from wind and photovoltaic installations, especially in network-saturated areas

Enhancement of electrical system stability by supplying power during peak periods and absorbing excess RES production

Promotion of energy decentralization through the development of storage projects near RES generation points

The completion of the "Themelio" project demonstrates Principia’s operational capability and technical expertise. It also sends a strong message to the market and regulators that the energy transition can be achieved rapidly, safely, and with technological excellence.
