Ι.1 Credit to the general government
In May 2025, the monthly net flow of credit to the general government was negative by €220 million, compared with a positive net flow of €58 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 0.2% from 1.3% in the previous month.
Ι.2 Credit to the private sector
In May 2025, the annual growth rate of credit to the private sector increased to 11.3% from 10.9% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of credit was positive by €518 million, compared with a negative net flow of €98 million in the previous month.
Ι.2.1 Credit to corporations
In May 2025, the monthly net flow of credit to corporations was positive by €471 million, compared with a negative net flow of €94 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 17.5% from 17.0% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations (NFCs) increased to 17.4% from 17.2% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was positive by €204 million, compared with a negative net flow of €92 million in the previous month. The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries increased to 18.2% from 15.5% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was positive by €267 million, compared with a negative net flow of €2 million in the previous month.
Ι.2.2 Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships
In May 2025, the monthly net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was negative by €6 million, compared with a negative net flow of €34 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at -0.3%, unchanged from the previous month.
Ι.2.3 Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions
In May 2025, the monthly net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was positive by 53 million, compared with a positive net flow of €30 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate stood at -0.1% from -0.3% in the previous month.
ΙΙ. Deposits by the domestic economy with the domestic credit institutions
In May 2025, the monthly net flow of total deposits was positive by €1,525 million, compared with a negative net flow of €1,097 million in April 2025.
ΙΙ.1 Deposits placed by the general government
In May 2025, deposits placed by the general government increased by €302 million, compared with a decrease of €302 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 15.2% from 11.8% in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2 Deposits placed by the private sector
In May 2025, deposits placed by the private sector increased by €1,222 million, compared with a decrease of €795 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 4.7% from 4.2% in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2.1 Corporate deposits
In May 2025, corporate deposits increased by €867 million, compared with a decrease of €1,145 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 9.8% from 9.3% in the previous month. In particular, deposits from NFCs increased by €666 million, against a decrease of €1,161 million in the previous month. Deposits placed by insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries increased by €200 million, compared with an increase of €16 million in the previous month.
ΙΙ.2.2 Deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions
In May 2025, deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions increased by €356 million, compared with an increase of €350 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 3.0% from 2.6% in the previous month.
