The Regional Governor, Nikos Hardalias, accompanied by the Mayor of Moschato-Tavros, Andreas Efthymiou, conducted an on-site inspection of the anti-flooding works for the improvement of the Ilissos River at the Armed Forces Park, which is being fully redeveloped, as well as the social infrastructure projects being upgraded with funds from the Region of Attica in the municipality of Moschato-Tavros.

At the meeting held at the Town Hall, attended by the Deputy Regional Governor of the Southern Sector, Georgia (Tzina) Adamopoulou, the Special Secretary, Elena Raptopoulou, and the Mayor's associates, discussions centered on the major projects being implemented in the area with funding from the Region of Attica.

Particular emphasis was placed on the large anti-flooding project for the improvement of the Ilissos River, which is part of the 281 projects initiated by the Region of Attica across all municipalities. Together with the Kifisos River, these watercourses serve as the primary recipients of rainwater in the Athens basin.

The project, with a budget of €12.83 million, is also part of the 54 major anti-flooding initiatives set into motion at the beginning of 2025. Its goal is to enhance the sewage capacity of the Ilissos River and improve the urban landscape in one of the most densely populated areas of the capital.

The work involves deepening the riverbed, remodeling three bridges to allow for better water drainage, and enhancing the surrounding environment. Specifically, it includes the stone bridge on Ethnikis Makariou Street, the replacement of the Poseidonos Avenue bridge with a new pedestrian bridge, and the relocation, maintenance, and reinstallation of a metal pedestrian bridge.

Additionally, Mr. Chardalias visited the 3rd Nursery School in Moschato, which shares premises with the Municipal Library, where plans for the building’s refurbishment are underway.

He then proceeded to a building on Timotheou Evgenikou Street in Tavros, which is being renovated with a budget of €2.034 million to house the new Open Protection Center for the Elderly (KAPI).

Finally, at the Armed Forces Park in Tavros, a 53-acre area that will be upgraded with a bioclimatic design and a budget of €1.28 million, the park will be transformed into a functional public space that highlights its social, cultural, and historical significance.
