This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen student welfare through the upgrading of public student housing infrastructure, with the aim of supporting students from vulnerable socio-economic backgrounds.
The decision follows a recently signed programmatic agreement between Deputy Minister Ms. Zaharaki, the President of the Youth and Lifelong Learning Foundation (INEDIVIM), Ms. Anna Rokofyllou, and the Deputy CEO of the Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations (HCAP), Mr. Panagiotis Stampoulidis. The project is scheduled to be implemented over the period 2025–2030.
The total cost will be covered by the Sectoral Development Program of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs (2021–2025), funded through national resources from the Public Investment Development Program.
The renovation, once completed, is expected to significantly improve both the external appearance and overall functionality of the building. The project includes large-scale interventions related to energy efficiency upgrades, structural reinforcement, modernization of digital and other infrastructure, as well as a comprehensive redesign of both shared and private spaces. Particular emphasis will be placed on enhancing accessibility, safety, and the overall quality of life for students.
