The Regional Governor of Attica, Nikos Hardalias, visited the facilities of the Mets Indoor Gymnasium to inspect the progress of the ongoing upgrade works, which are being carried out with funding from the Region of Attica.

Mr. Hardalias was briefed on the first phase of works requested by Panathinaikos A.O., which are included in the scope of the relevant programmatic agreement between the Attica Region and OPANDA. The total budget of the agreement amounts to €1.7 million and aims at upgrading sports facilities within the Municipality of Athens.

The works are financed through the Attica Region’s own resources. Notably, €1 million of the total budget is expected to be allocated exclusively to improvements at the Mets Indoor Gymnasium.

So far, air conditioning units have been installed in the main hall and auxiliary areas, sunshades have been added to the gym’s glass panels, and fitness equipment has been placed in the training area.

In the coming months, the second phase of the project will be launched, including extensive thermal and waterproof insulation works, repair of frames and flooring, reconstruction of locker rooms and showers, painting of all surfaces, repairs to plumbing and mechanical systems, upgrades to outdoor areas, and renovation of the storage building.
