Specifically, the AKTOR Group undertook the repair and reinforcement of all elements, as well as the reconstruction of the structure of the right branch of the existing bridge, which had been built in the late 1990s.
The A039 overpass bridge is located at km 76+400 of the Elefsina - Corinth - Patras - Pyrgos - Tsakona Highway. It carries traffic from the old Athens - Corinth National Road over the new Olympia Odos highway and is approximately 100 meters from the Corinth Canal and about 1.2 km from the Isthmia coast.
On the upper section of the bridge, which is part of the old Loutraki - Agioi Theodoroi National Road, full reconstruction and restoration works were carried out. To manage the traffic load as an alternative route during all phases of the construction work, the Group fully repaired the submerged bridges in the Isthmia area, which had been partially operational in recent years.
It is worth noting that in June 2024, following a state request, the demolition of the bridge was completed in record time by the AKTOR Group, and within 48 hours, the highway was reopened to traffic with a fully reconstructed asphalt surface. Simultaneously, efforts began to find the most suitable solution for its restoration, resulting in a complex reconstruction solution that met the stringent time constraints for the completion of the project and its return to traffic.
The construction of the new structure began in early November 2024 and was completed by the end of December, with the highway reopened before the Christmas holidays.
After the holiday season, work commenced on the repair and reinforcement of the left branch structure, with full reconstruction completed by the end of February, and the highway reopened before the Clean Monday long weekend, on February 28, 2025. The completion time of the works, combined with the scale of the technical project (2,000 sq.m. of structure within 4 months), presented a challenge that was successfully achieved by the company.
