Six bids were submitted in the tender process regarding the award of a service concession contract for the financing, operation, maintenance and exploitation of the Attica Road for a period of 25 years.

For the gold contract, bids were submitted by:

  • ABERTIS INFRAESTRUCTURAS S.A.
  • GEK TERNA SA
  • BRISA – AUTO ESTRADAS de PORTUGAL S.A. – RUBICONE MIDCO, B.V. –INTRAKAT A.E.
  • MACQUARIE ASSET MANAGEMENT MOTORWAY HOLDINGS S.ar.l. – FINCOP INFRASTRUCTURE LTD
  • VINCI HIGHWAYS S.A.S. – VINCI CONCESSIONS S.A.S. – MYTILINEOS S.A. – MOBILITY PARTNER S.A.S.

It is recalled that the government has set the toll price for the first five years of the new contract at 2.50 from 2.80 today. In order for there to be an increase to 3.25 euros, it is sufficient for the remaining hours of the day to have a noticeable reduction in the price of the toll so that the average of the whole day does not exceed 2.50 euros.

The right to increase the toll arises when the average hourly traffic increase during the two peak periods (morning - afternoon) and for at least 2 hours is lower than 45 kilometers per hour. This should happen for 30 days and for 6 consecutive months (eg from January to June) excluding the summer, in 4 sections of the road axis and with the condition that at least in three of them, the above conditions should be observed. These sections include, among others, the Metamorfosi junction in both directions, the Vrilissi Tunnel, the Doukissis Placentia tunnel.

HRADF is running the procedures to immediately proceed with the unsealing of the financial offers that meet the conditions of the tender.

It is noted that the Fund has decided to request an improved offer only if there is a 5% deviation of the bidder from the second highest offer submitted for the concession contract.

Attiki Odos is a modern highway of approximately 70 km length that connects the Athens - Lamia National Highway with the Athens - Corinth National Highway, bypassing the center of Athens. It was built in the 1990s by the concession method. It is the regional road axis of the wider metropolitan area of Athens and a key part of the road network of the Prefecture of Attica. It has two or three traffic lanes and one emergency lane (LEA) in each direction. In some sections in the middle of the road axis, in a specially designed area, the suburban railway runs, which is not part of the Attica Road concession contract.

The highway has controlled access and consists of two vertical, intersecting sections, the Elefsina - Stavros - Spaton Freeway, approximately 52 km long, and the Western Peripheral Highway of Ymittos, approximately 13 km long. Attiki Odos also includes a section of the Western Regional Avenue Aegaleo, approximately 5 km long.
