Studio Moren won the extension project for the Holiday Inn Express Southwark hotel in London.

The extension will be the third undertaken by Studio Moren at the property and involves the addition of both guest rooms and areas for food and drink.

The project will add 35 rooms to the hotel, 11 more than the original feasibility study allowed, bringing the number of rooms to 184.

Studio Moren previously expanded the well-known chain's property in 2011 and 2015, the first before the London 2012 Paralympic Games, emphasizing accessible and inclusive design. In addition, the team introduced various systems to reduce the building's carbon footprint, including a rainwater harvesting and irrigation system on the green/living wall on the rear exterior elevation.

The new extension has been designed to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating, through the use of solar panels, a green roof and also improving the hotel's surroundings with many planters.
