The Project Preparation Facility (PPF) of the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF)/Growthfund has announced the launch of the tender for the restoration and upgrade of the surrounding area and perimeter fence of the Olympic Athletic Center of Athens (OAKA).

This competition has a total budget of €11.5 million (plus VAT). The PPF, acting as the Contracting Authority, as stated in a related announcement, is responsible for the tendering process of the project, which represents another significant step towards the upgrade and optimal utilization of the country's most iconic sports complex.

The scope of the project includes the development of the final design, implementation studies, and execution of works for targeted structural repairs to the relevant buildings and the restoration and upgrade of the surrounding area and perimeter fence of the OAKA complex.

The planned interventions include:

  • Sealing of joints around the perimeter of the Central Olympic Stadium. 
  • Addressing the cracks in the velodrome area. 
  • Surface restoration and planting in the surrounding area.
  • Redevelopment of the Market and restoration of the Pavilions.
  • Electromechanical works. 
  • Design and construction of a new internal road network between the velodrome and the swimming facilities. 
  • Works for the study and construction of Climbing Walls and Shelters in the surrounding area.
  • Procurement and installation of new fencing and removal of the existing one. 
  • Procurement and installation of Guardhouses.

The project is expected to be completed within 14 months from the signing of the contract with the contractor, with funding sourced from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan "Greece 2.0" through European Union financing – NextGenerationEU. The deadline for submitting offers is set for Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

This project is part of broader initiatives for the comprehensive modernization of OAKA, with a total budget of €111 million (plus VAT), which are being implemented by the PPF of the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF) in collaboration with the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE) and the Ministry of Sports.
