The Organization Earth is responsible for the first pocket park delivered in Kifissia, on Charilaou Trikoupi and Levidou streets. The entity was in close collaboration with P&G, as part of the "We create pocket parks - Making our cities more sustainable" program.
In fact, this is the 13th pocket park resulting from the synergy, this time with the contribution of the company "D. Thanopoulos".
In the pocket park of 460 sq.m. the plant material was enhanced by the addition of more than 580 plants, including shrubs, perennial flowering and grassy species that are harmoniously adapted to the special characteristics of the area. In the area, the urban infrastructure was renewed, such as lighting, benches, etc., while at the same time a tap, bicycle ramp and autonomous photovoltaic systems were installed with the aim of becoming a meeting and recreation point for the residents.
Pocket parks are described small green areas that are developed in unstructured and abandoned spaces within urban areas. The benefits of creating pocket parks are many. First of all, they contribute to the upgrading of the urban area in which they are created, but also to the improvement of the quality of life of the residents, since they can, under certain conditions, influence the microclimate where they are located or at least offer a breath of fresh air and, above all, an aesthetic break.
The Earth organization, is a Greek non-governmental organization founded in 2010 with the mission of consolidating the concept of sustainable development, as defined by the 17 Global Goals of the United Nations. Its interventions, through proposals such as pocket parks, have the goal of upgrading the quality of the urban environment but, above all, of raising awareness around another way of life that will lead to a more sustainable future.
