The JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa, featuring 160 rooms, suites, and villas—all offering stunning views of the Aegean Sea, with many including private pools and jacuzzis—sets new standards in the hospitality sector.
According to the company, the architectural design respects the environment while subtly highlighting both the natural beauty and the rich cultural heritage of Crete.
“JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa, the highly anticipated debut of JW Marriott in Greece, embodies JW Marriott’s vision of delivering exceptional experiences centered on wellness and a genuine connection to the destination and its people,” said Helen Leighton, Vice President of Luxury Brands for Europe, Middle East, and Africa at Marriott. “We look forward to seeing our guests unwind and embrace a serene, contemplative way of life.”
“The opening of JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa marks a significant milestone for us. This project introduces a new level of experience to Crete and the Mediterranean by blending the island’s natural beauty with the highest standards of hospitality. We eagerly anticipate welcoming our guests and opening this new chapter in luxury hospitality,” stated Antonios Vasilakis, Owner of JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa.
“The arrival of the first JW Marriott beachfront property in the Mediterranean is an exciting new chapter for us, signaling SWOT Hospitality’s entry into the ultra-luxury segment. Projects like this elevate Greece’s position on the global tourism stage and showcase the country’s potential to become one of the world’s premier luxury destinations,” added Stelios Koutsivitis, Chairman of SWOT Hospitality.
Designed by the renowned architectural firm Block722, the JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa embodies contemporary minimalism with a deep respect for the environment. Planted roofs, olive and carob trees, combined with natural materials such as marble and wood, create a harmonious integration with the surrounding landscape. Spacious terraces and private pools for each room enhance the connection with the sea and sky, while the interiors feature earthy Mediterranean tones—terracotta, olive, sand, and stone. Handmade ceramic details and lighting pay homage to Cretan tradition through a modern lens.
Sustainability lies at the core of the resort’s philosophy, incorporating geothermal and solar energy systems, heat recovery from air conditioning units for hot water production, and the reuse of treated wastewater for irrigation.
