"The footbridge that was delivered for public use in Palataki is a necessary project for the safe passage of pedestrians from Athens Avenue," the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christos Staikouras said, during the delivery ceremony of the footbridge in Palataki of Chaidari.

Mr. Staikouras mentioned that in the context of a related tender of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, four other footbridges have already been delivered:

  • The Bridge for Pedestrians at the Provata Schools, also in Haidari.
  • Two footbridges on Poseidon Avenue, one in Alimos and the other in Paleo Faliro, and
  • The Mediterranean Pedestrian Bridge, in Agia Paraskevi.

The Minister emphasized that the footbridges have lifts that ensure access to our fellow citizens with disabilities. At the same time, he spoke of interventions that strengthen the level of road safety and are of vital importance for local communities.

The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, responsible for Infrastructure, Nikos Tachiaos said: "From the first moment we assumed our duties at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, both myself and the Minister Christos Staikouras, we made it a priority to effectively continue the main goal, that from the first moment, the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, set the delivery of modern and safe infrastructures.

Not only for drivers, but also for pedestrians, thus improving the quality of life of all citizens with our interventions. Such a project is what we are launching today. The bridge we deliver creates safe crossing conditions for all residents of the area, a busy road such as Athens Avenue. At the same time, we facilitate the movement of vehicles from the point. Finally, seeing Nikos Hardalia, it would be remiss not to mention the decisive contribution of the Region, which financed the project".
