The area to be expropriated, with a total area of approximately 154.8 acres, is located on the borders of the Metropolitan Center of Athens in a central area of the Municipality of Dafni - Ymittos. There are currently 91 buildings on the site with a total area of 88,000 m2, most of which will be demolished (25 are preserved) and five more will be built. The total building will reach 148,704 sq.m., of which 98,000 sq.m. will concern the 5 new buildings.
According to a relevant announcement, 9 Ministries (Finance, Development and Investments, Environment and Energy, Labor and Social Affairs, Rural Development and Food, Health, Tourism, Culture and Sports, Interior) will be relocated to this property as well as public bodies (AADE , HCAP, HRADF, HPPC), which today are scattered mainly in the center of Athens, while some of their addresses or services are located in Piraeus, Marousi and Cholargos.
The construction, the cost of which is estimated at €250 million, will be done through a Public Private Partnership (PPP), and the announcement of the relevant tender is expected in the first months of 2023.
The competition, as foreseen in similar cases, will follow the stages of expression of interest, and then the conduct of a competitive dialogue, where the candidates who will be pre-selected in the first stage will shape the final specifications of the development. The goal is for construction work to begin within 2023.
The cost of the expropriation was set at €31 million, an amount that burdens the budget of the Ministry of Finance.
