The creation of an underground parking facility with a capacity of 360 spaces, located next to the city's ΗΣΑΠ station, is progressing. This project is of vital importance for the city of Nea Ionia, which has remained on the drawing board for decades.

This particular project, with a provisional budget of €14.3 million (excluding VAT), which has been pending since as far back as 1988, is expected to significantly enhance the urban environment of the city and greatly ease the daily lives of residents, shopkeepers, and visitors. Although it had previously been tendered and awarded to a contractor under a former municipal administration, the project was eventually halted and removed from the agenda by the previous administration, which cited technical issues.

The project, located in the "heart" of Nea Ionia, is anticipated not only to resolve the long-standing parking issue but also to contribute substantially to traffic decongestion. Additionally, the development will feature the creation of a square with abundant tree planting and a small outdoor theater, which will both aesthetically and functionally upgrade the broader area.
