Unemployment in Greece at 9% in March 2025

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Greece stood at 9.0% in March 2025, down from 10.8% in the same month of the previous year, but slightly up from 8.6% in February 2025.

According to data released by ELSTAT, the number of employed individuals in March 2025 reached 4,280,078, marking an increase of 22,835 persons (or +0.5%) compared to March 2024, but a decrease of 29,586 persons (or –0.7%) compared to February 2025.

Unemployment figures stood at 424,575 individuals, reflecting a significant year-on-year decline of 92,985 persons (–18.0%) compared to March 2024, but an increase of 20,940 persons (or +5.2%) compared to February 2025.

Meanwhile, the population under 75 years old that is not part of the labor force — meaning individuals who are neither employed nor actively seeking employment — totaled 3,053,322. This represents an increase of 44,889 persons (or +1.5%) compared to March 2024, and 6,267 persons (or +0.2%) relative to February 2025.
