In 2024, the city hosted 727 conferences, while the wider region is emerging as a rising hub for international meetings and business travel.
In a statement, the Deputy Regional Governor for Tourism, Vicky Chatzivasileiou, emphasized that the Region's participation in the event aimed to strengthen Thessaloniki’s image as a leading destination for conferences, meetings, and events, while also promoting the broader tourism offering of Central Macedonia. "Our meetings confirmed a strong interest in the region, both for high-quality conference events and thematic experiences," she noted.
Central Macedonia was especially presented as a year-round tourism destination (365 days), with emphasis placed on gastronomy, wine tourism networks, globally significant archaeological sites, the natural landscapes of Mount Olympus and its surrounding mountains, thermal springs, and internationally accredited beaches.
