Unemployment fell to 16% in January

The unemployment rate stood at 16% in January 2021, and fell from 16.4% in January 2020 and 15.6% in December 2020, which was corrected downwards.

The measures greatly affected the normal functioning of the market.

 

ELSTAT points out that, during the month of January, the labor market was affected by the application of special operating rules in companies as well as by the implementation of measures for the protection of public health and the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, throughout the country.

These measures have affected, to a large extent, beyond the normal operation of the market and the way of collecting research data.
