The investment recently announced by Prime Minister K. Mitsotakis and the head of the American technology giant Microsoft, Brad Smith, is turning to the apple of discord for Greek real estate companies.

According to information published by ictplus.gr, the Data Center will be built in Lavrio on the plot of the old textile factory "Aegean" located in the urban fabric and on the port of the city.

The abandoned factory of the once strong Lanara family has an area of more than 100 acres and is adjacent to vacant plots of similar area, which are said to be used as the construction of buildings that will support their operationwill be required, such as warehouses and homes of more than 200 employees initially required for the 24-hour operation and technical support of the infrastructure.

The investment for the development of the three Data Centers amounts to 450 million euros and makes Greece a global hub in terms of cloud infrastructure, in fact, as the Prime Minister stated during the presentation of the project "Greece has its sun, now it acquired its cloud ".

It is noted that Greece is only the 8th country in the European Union where Microsoft has created or will soon operate a data center region.

According to real estate sources, "a battle is expected to be fought for this great project" as they say "which developer would not want to have this important collaboration in his CV".

According to the same sources, this large project will be "green" since Microsoft pays special attention to bioclimatic buildings that offer energy savings for heating, cooling and lighting. Also, as can be seen from the campuses the company has in the USA, it also prefers "symmetrical" buildings that give the feeling of a campus.
