Those properties
that have been abandoned and pose a public risk. According to previous
estimates, a pre-earthquake inspection was ordered in 80 thousand
buildings of the public and the wider public sector. However, about 25
thousand buildings seem to have been inspected and another 55 thousand
remain uninspected.
Which means it could take years to bring order to this chaos.
Many buildingsin Athens, possibly over 10,000, are a public menace.
Abandoned buildings, left in the mercy of time, either due to
multi-ownership or because there is no money to renovate them, pose a
risk to passers-by and public health.
