Every time an earthquake hits Greece, "rotten" buildings come to the fore.

Those properties that have been abandoned and pose a public risk. According to previous estimates, a pre-earthquake inspection was ordered in 80 thousand buildings of the public and the wider public sector. However, about 25 thousand buildings seem to have been inspected and another 55 thousand remain uninspected.

Which means it could take years to bring order to this chaos.

Many buildingsin Athens, possibly over 10,000, are a public menace.

Abandoned buildings, left in the mercy of time, either due to multi-ownership or because there is no money to renovate them, pose a risk to passers-by and public health.
