Airbnb: What changes in the property listing starting June 1, 2021

From June 1, 2021 those who want to register their property in Greece on Airbnb, are required to indicate their Property Registration Number in the mandatory special field of the platform according to the information of the platform to its customers.

According to the agreement recently signed by short-term leasing platforms with the Independent Public Revenue Authority

 Those who have already registered or their registration is exempted from this obligation (those who have a Special Operation Mark ) must make sure that their Property Registration Number is up to date.

 This announcement follows the agreement recently signed by the short-term leasing platforms Airbnb, Booking, Expedia with the Independent Public Revenue Authority (GSIS/AADE) on compliance with the process of registration in the Short-Term Lease Register maintained by the AUthority.

The cooperation protocol contains detailed terms of cooperation between GSIS/ AADE and each digital platform, according to which, among other things, platforms:

  •     must provide their respective websites with a distinct and clearly defined domain. There, the Property Owner / Administrator will register the required property registration number or its justified exemption, in accordance with the Greek law.
  •     will inform owners, regarding the already registered properties, about the obligation to provide their registration number, according to the Greek legislation, as well as about the risks of non-compliance.
  •     agree that after a relevant notification of GSIS/ AADE they will remove all the registrations that did not provide the provided property registration number or the justified exception, as stipulated by law.

The agreed procedures will be reviewed annually, starting in June 2021.
