Authorities approve the Ioannina Pyrsinella park's refurbishment

The park will offer functional space for gathering and recreation in Ionnina city, Northern Greece.

The study refers to the Pyrsinella park refurbishment, which is located within the administrative boundaries of the Municipality of Ioannina, the Central Council of Architecture (KESA) at its recent meeting.

The park occupies a total area of ​​274,636.95 sqm and according to the study, the reconstruction of the two main entrances of the park, the redesign of the route network, the creation of educational gardens and a turf pitch as well as an outdoor gym, the construction of a pet park, creation of a place to stop and cultural activities around the big lake and a playground. The project study incorporates bioclimatic design techniques and energy saving techniques, creating a "green infrastructure".

The aim of the project is to create a functional space for gathering and recreation where the proposed interventions will contribute to the improvement of pedestrian mobility without discrimination. The combination of the use of natural materials that are environmentally friendly and the increase of surfaces and planting elements, will bring thermal comfort, reduction of air pollution and generally improvement of the urban environment and the microclimate of the area.
