The president of the Hotel Chamber of Greece, Alexandros Vasilikos, commented to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, emphasizing that "apparently the situation in Ukraine frightens everyone, as it happens in any difficult situation". The FDI is calmly following the developments closely, with Mr. Vasilikos unfolding the three issues that have been closely observed by the industry's experts.
The first big issue for the country's hotels is the increase in their operating energy costs.
Focusing on tourist inflows to Greece, the current conflict will certainly affect the flows planned by Russia and Ukraine tourists for this year. At this point, Mr. Vasilikos noted that in recent years the flows from Russia and Ukraine have not been remarkably large.
On the other hand, the impact of the crisis on Greece will be significant, if the US market is affected, which in recent years and especially last year has stood out. According to Mr. Vasilikos, if the conflict develops differently, it will affect other markets, mainly the USA.
