t should be noted that in August, the labour market was affected by specific regulatory measures concerning the operation of businesses, as well as by measures taken to protect public health and tackle the COVID-19 pandemic throughout the whole Country.
These measures affected, not only the normal functioning of the market, but also the data collection method of the survey.
Therefore, and according to the data released, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in August 2021 amounted to 13.9% compared to 16.9% in August 2020 and to the downwards revised 14.0% in July 2021.
The number of unemployed persons amounted to 655,644 decreasing by 128,293 persons as compared with August 2020 (-16.4%) and by 1,035 persons compared with July 2021 (-0.2%).
The number of employed persons amounted to 4,070,814 persons increasing by 226,985 persons as compared with August 2020 (+5.9%) and by 50,927 persons compared with July 2021 (+1.3%).
