At least 15 hydrogen trains will be acquired by the Greek state within the new year in a deal of € 195 million.

The bill that was recently submitted to the Parliament comprises four provisions of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and according to the draft will soon be signed a contract for the barren railway lines project which is expected to improve citizens transportation.

The contract is expected to be inked at the beginning of the new year and the Greek State will generate c.€1 billion.

The cost for each hydrogen train is estimated at €12 to €13 million and the total market will be financed approximately 60% by GAIAOSE and 40% by the EU.

Regarding the new, multi-year Public Service Obligation Contract (PPP) is to be signed soon. Today, the Public Service Obligations of TRAINOSE (ie the so-called "barren routes") are determined by the agreement signed on 17.12.2015 and extended by one year with 3891/2010.

The contract was inked by the Greek State and TRAINOSE before the privatization of the company, in 2017.
