Overall Turnover Index in Retail Trade up 19% in November

The seasonally adjusted Overall Turnover Index in November 2021, compared with the corresponding index of October 2021, decreased by 2.6%.

The Overall Turnover Index in Retail Trade in November 2021 increased by 19.0%, compared with the corresponding index of November 2020, while compared with the corresponding index of October 2021 decreased by 6.3% according to data unveiled by ELSTAT.

The Overall Volume Index in Retail Trade (i.e. turnover in retail trade at constant prices) in November 2021, increased by 14.7%, compared with the corresponding index of November 2020, while, compared with the corresponding index of October 2021, decreased by 5.8%.

The seasonally adjusted Overall Turnover Index in November 2021, compared with the corresponding index of October 2021, decreased by 2.6%.

The 19.0% increase of the Turnover Index in November 2021 compared with the corresponding index in November 2020 is mainly due to the changes in the following store categories: 

  • Books, Stationery, other goods 46.9%
  • Furniture, electrical equipment, household equipment 45.6%
  • Automotive fuel 43.8%
  • Pharmaceutical products, cosmetics 16.2%
  • Supermarkets -1.9%
