The Municipality of Kaisariani presented the study of the renovation of its Central Square, architecturally unifying Panagiotis Makris Square with the Assumption Square of the Virgin Mary.
In a milestone year for modern Greek history, Kaisariani highlights its role in it with a series of inspirational works that highlight the history, its cultural heritage, its environmental and tourist importance, its presence on the gastronomic map of Athens.
The study was prepared by the Emeritus Professor of the Athens Technical University, Konstantinos Moraitis, who worked closely with the Technical Service of the Municipality.
"The public space of the city is the pre-eminent cultural and political space, especially in areas such as Kaisariani. Kaisariani is not a random city in Greece. It may not be a random city in Europe and the World. It is an emblematic place and should be highlighted and promoted as such "said the professor in the official presentation of the study before the Municipal Council.
The inspirer of the regeneration is the Mayor of Kaisariani, Christos Voskopoulos, who in his scientific capacity attended all the stages of the study. The Mayor in his presentation referred to his vision for the renovation: "We envisioned the renovation of Kaisariani Square with a direct reference to our origin, which was expressed in design by shaping the floor on a map of the beaches.
This regeneration coincides with the great anniversary of the 100th anniversary of the Asia Minor Catastrophe and is part of the Municipality's package of actions to honor the anniversary.
