"Fast forward" for the new NRAC/BOAK, from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport

The highway is 157.5 km long and a side / vertical network of about 150 km, with a budget of 1.32 billion. euro, will be constructed under a Concession Agreement and is the largest road project currently being prepared to be implemented in the country.

The project includes:

2 + 2 traffic lanes in each direction with LEA and central island

26 single branch tunnels with a total length of ~ 34 km.

10.80 km of new bridges, 23 of which exceed 100 meters in length

20 new uneven junctions and upgrading of the existing uneven junctions in the Bypasses of Chania, Rethymno, Heraklion

The Northern Road Axis of Crete is completed with the section Naples Peninsula that will be constructed as a PPP and for which the Environmental Impact Study has already been submitted to the Region of Crete for approval.

The tender for the selection of a contractor of the project is in progress, with five participating  consortiums:

- “GEK TERNA SA”,

- Association of Persons "Ariadne Motorway" (AVAX-Marguerite),

- "Aktor Concessions SA",

- Shikun Binui LTD and

- Association of Persons "Joint Venture Acciona Concesiones-Mytilineos Intertoll".
