The minister pointed out that "in the new program, the age of
construction of the building, the rate of energy upgrade, the degree
days - ie the days of cold and extreme heat - will be taken into
account, along with income criteria, for the evaluation of applications.
The ministry plans to adopt the model already implemented by the
ministry of finance for the heating subsidy. The relevant system for
monitoring the energy needs of households has been developed by the
National Meteorological Service, which has mapped the country based on
temperature and heating-cooling time (degree days).
Depending on the climatic conditions of each region, the amount of the
subsidy will be determined. For the elaboration of this model, the
ministry cooperates with the Technical Chamber of Greece, which will
determine the needs of energy upgrade per region.
The program will also include income criteria, giving the advantage to
households that have lower family income in the subsidy for the energy
renovation of their homes.
It is recalled that in the current program that was completed last month there were no income criteria.
