Two corporate schemes expressed interest in the tender of the Ministry of Transport Infrastructure for the PPP project with a budget of € 291 million, which refers to the operation and maintenance of the External Water Supply System (EYS) of the major area of the Capital.

The External Water Supply System includes the dams and reservoirs in Evinos, Mornos, Marathon, Lake Ylikis, the drillings in Parnitha and Boeotia, the aqueducts, the 400 km long transmission networks and the pumping stations, which constitute the main infrastructure for the water supply of Attica prefecture.

The contractor will undertake to proceed with the required investments of heavy and light maintenance, as well as in the operation of E.Y.S. for the next 20 years and will be reimbursed with availability payments.

The infrastructure is been operated and maintained until today by EYDAP, which did not participate in the relevant tender as until its expiration on 20/1/2022 the founding law of the company that would allow it to participate had not been amended.

According to information, two groups have expressed their interest in the competition:

  • ELLAKTOR (with its subsidiaries AKTOR Concessions and Elector) and
  • the consortium GEK TERNA - Intrakat.
