Foreign institutional investors offer a "vote of confidence" in Greek bonds

More than 80% of the issuance of Greek bonds seems to have been covered by foreign institutional investors, thus giving once again a "vote of confidence" in the country's economy.

The 5-year interest rate stood at 0.020% and the 30-year interest rate at 1.675%.

 According to the data of the Ministry of Finance, the interest rate on the 5-year bond was 0.020%, and on the 30-year bond at 1.675%. The total bids for both issues amounted to over 18.9 billion euros (9.3 billion for the 5-year bond and 9.6 billion for the 30-year).


Indicative of the high degree of confidence of the markets regarding the course of the Greek economy is the composition of investors that responded to both issues. For the 5-year bond, 82% concern investors from abroad and 18% from Greece, while 81% are institutional portfolios. For the 30-year bond, 85% of investors come from abroad, 15% from Greece, while 88% are institutional investors.
