This contract pertains to the construction of the project titled "Improvement and Widening of the Rhodes-Lindos National Road (E.O. 95), section from Kalathos to Lindos," with a total budget of €8,337,306.76.
The project has been included in the Recovery and Resilience Fund through the Ministry of Interior, as part of Action 16631, titled "Road Safety Improvement Program for the National and Regional Road Network," with the South Aegean Region designated as the Implementing Body.
The initiative focuses on enhancing the Rhodes-Lindos National Road from the northern entrance of the Kalathos settlement to Lindos. This improvement will significantly contribute to safer and more efficient traffic connectivity between these areas. The construction of this section, incorporating updated geometric features in line with the latest specifications, is expected to upgrade the local road network, enhance road safety, and accommodate the growing volume of traffic.
Specifically, the project involves the improvement of the pavement and geometric characteristics of approximately 5.37 km of the Rhodes-Lindos National Road’s main axis and 796.36 meters for the development of side roads and connections serving adjacent properties, as well as improving the junctions of the main road with existing secondary roads.
Key elements of the project include the construction of two at-grade roundabouts: one at the northern entrance of Kalathos and another at the intersection towards Pylon. Additionally, a system of twin small roundabouts will be implemented in the "KRANAS" area within the Lindos settlement. A new bridge over the "VLYCHOS" stream, approximately 22.00 meters in length, will also be built.
Given the tight deadlines imposed by the Recovery and Resilience Fund, and the fact that there were two years of legal disputes between the competing companies, the project has a completion deadline of 10 months from the date of signing the contract.
