Blue Air, the largest private Romanian airline, has suspended all flights to and from Romanian airports until Monday, September 12.

The company informed in a press release issued on Tuesday, September 6 that it was forced to take this decision after the Ministry of the Environment blocked all bank accounts and is no longer able to pay its operating bills.

In July, Romania's consumer protection authority ANPC fined BlueAir €2 million for canceling more than 11,000 flights in a 12-month period between April 30, 2021 and April 30, 2022. The authority also ruled that Blue Air must return to customers within ten days the 66.5 million RON (13 million euros) collected in fares for the respective flights. The company said it would challenge the sanction.
