In October 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to the general government was positive by €259 million, compared with a positive net flow of €317 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 7.6% from 9.1% in the previous month.
In the same time period the annual growth rate of credit to the private sector decreased to 5.3% from 6.0% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of credit was negative by €898 million, compared with a positive net flow of €752 million in the previous month.
In October 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to corporations was negative by €665 million, compared with a positive net flow of €723 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 11.3% from 12.5% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations (NFCs) decreased to 10.8% from 12.3% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was negative by €606 million, compared with a positive net flow of €745 million in the previous month.
The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries increased to 16.5% from 14.9% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was negative by €60 million, compared with a negative net flow of €22 million in the previous month.
Deposits by households up in October
In October 2022, deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions increased by €121 million, compared with an increase of €753 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 4.3% from 4.6% in the previous month.
In October 2022, deposits placed by the private sector decreased by €550 million, compared with an increase of €2,255 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 5.9% from 6.2% in the previous month.
