The members of the Board of the Hellenic Association of Civil Engineers and Contractors of Public Works (PEDMDE) discussed with the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christos Dimas, the key issues concerning the contracting sector, as well as the matters that require immediate intervention and resolution.

According to a statement from the Association, the Minister listened attentively to the Board of the Hellenic Association of Civil Engineers and Contractors of Public Works (PEDMDE) and expressed his intention to promptly address the discussed issues.

The meeting was attended by the President of PEDMDE, Konstantinos Goliopoulos, and the Vice President, Xenofon Karkantzos. As highlighted in the statement, they discussed and, in principle, agreed with Mr. Dimas on closer collaboration between the Association and the Ministry regarding the legislative and regulatory framework governing the awarding and execution of public contracts.

Finally, the President of PEDMDE informed the Minister about the General Assembly and the Congress of the European Federation of Construction Industry (FIEC), which PEDMDE is hosting this year on May 16, 2025, at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. The central theme of the event will be “Building Tomorrow: Solutions for Water Resilience and Blue Infrastructure.” The President also extended an invitation to the Minister to attend and deliver a speech, emphasizing that this is the most significant event for the construction industry at the European level, an invitation which, according to the statement, the Minister accepted.

It is noteworthy that FIEC represents companies of all sizes within the construction sector through its 32 national federations from 27 European countries. Due to its extensive representation, it has been officially recognized as a Social Partner of the European Union.
