The E65 motorway, currently under construction by TERNA, spans a total length of 182.1 kilometers and is considered one of the most significant national infrastructure projects. The project has an estimated total budget of approximately €1.4 billion.

The project is designed to meet the capacity requirements of a modern motorway, featuring two lanes in each direction, along with an emergency lane. It is being constructed entirely along a new alignment, connecting Eastern and Western Greece.

Upon the completion of the new sections of the E65 in April 2024, a total of 136 kilometers of modern, safe motorway will be in operation. This stretch will extend from the E/C interchange with the A.T.E. motorway (at 206.5 km) to Kalambaka Airport. Prominent tourist destinations such as Meteora, Plastira Lake, Karpenisi, and Trikala will now be more easily, quickly, and safely accessible, contributing to the overall development of the central region of the country.

The final 46 kilometers of the motorway's northern section, starting from the Kalambaka Interchange and extending to the Egnatia Motorway west of Grevena, are currently under construction by TERNA. To facilitate this work, two central and two support facilities are operational, employing 780 personnel and utilizing 440 construction vehicles and trucks.

As of October 2024, the overall construction progress of the northern section stands at 66.35%.
