The deadline for submitting binding offers to the General Secretariat of Research and Innovation of the Ministry of Development and Investments for the development of the 1st State of Innovation at the old facilities of CHROPEI expires on March, 28 2023.

According to the Ministry of Development and Investments, the inter-ministerial decision was changed, the previous tender was canceled due to a change in the financial and technical parameters related to the project award process and an open international tender was re-announced, immediately, with the possibility of utilizing resources from the public Recovery and Resilience Fund.

It is recalled that the State of Innovation will be a place where start-ups, techno-sprouts, companies that invest in research and development, universities, research centers, incubators, accelerators will co-exist and the conditions will be cultivated to cause the necessary business synergies, producing innovative products and services for the benefit of the Greek economy and society.

The Ministry of Development and Investments notes that it carried out intensive actions and checks on possible places where the State of Innovation could be housed. In the end, the choice of the old CHROPEI facilities on Piraeus Street was chosen as the most suitable because it ensures easy access not only from the center of Piraeus but also from the center of Athens. The property occupies a total land area of 17,893 m2, which includes an industrial complex of preserved buildings.

The investment for this large project is estimated to reach €100 million and the Private Partnership will carry out the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of the State of Innovation building facilities and will undertake the provision of innovation support and promotion services and commercial exploitation of said facilities.
