With a length of about 160 kilometers and a budget of € 163 million, the new pipeline ensures the smooth transition of the Regions of Central and Western Macedonia to the metallnia, providing access to gas to a number of new areas.
This is the first pipeline in Greece and one of the first pan -European designed using technologies that also allow hydrogen to be transported up to 100%, in the context of DESFA's strategy for hydrogen market development in Greece and National Strategy for "charging" the Greek energy system.
Regarding its journey, the pipeline and its branches will cross the Central Regions (PE Imathias, Pella) and Western Macedonia (PE Kozani, Florina), starting from Trikala Imathias and ending in the heart of Kozani , enabling the supply of natural gas to new areas and ensuring possible access to new users (industrial, crafts, agricultural & household consumption) to the wider area. At the same time, with the construction of the measurement station in the heart area, the pipeline will supply the consolidated district heating system in Kozani, Ptolemaida and Amyntaio, with significant environmental benefits and improvement of the carbon footprint of the above areas.
Municipalities that benefit, directly or indirectly through the metering/regulatory stations under construction and the corresponding average and low pressure networks to be developed by DEDA, are included by the Region of Central Macedonia, Alexandria, Naoussa, Veria, Veria, Veria, Veria Skydra and Edessa, while on the part of the Western Macedonia Region, Eordaia, Kozani and Amyntaio.
