The Regional Governor of Peloponnese, Dimitris Ptochos, recently conducted an on-site inspection of the flood protection works at the Kyriello River in Kiato, as well as the maintenance and cleaning operations of the central AOSAK canal.

The project at the Kyriello River, with a budget of €295,000, includes the repair and restoration of the coastal bridge, as well as the reshaping of the riverbed from the coastal bridge to the Old National Road (PEO).

The works are in their final stages and are expected to be completed within the next two weeks, providing substantial flood protection to the area.

Mr. Ptochos was accompanied by Regional Vice Governors Anastasios Gkiolis, Spyros Zacharias, Athina Korka, Sotiris Mourikis, the Region’s appointed European Program Advisor Markos Leggas, Regional Councilor Giorgos Chasikidis, and the Mayor of Sikyonia, Spyros Stamatopoulos.

The Regional Governor also visited the "Dessi" site in the Vasiliko Municipal Community, where related works have begun.

The project, with a budget of €50,000, includes:

  • Cleaning of the main canal from the "Dessi" to the Sikyonas-Vochas separation point
  • Cleaning of both main and secondary canals
  • Cleaning of the cement canal in Elissonas, a stretch of 4 kilometers

These works are crucial for ensuring proper irrigation of crops and preventing issues caused by the accumulation of silt and debris.

“We are proceeding with projects that address existing problems. Flood protection and the proper management of water resources are our priorities,” noted the Regional Governor of Peloponnese, Dimitris Ptochos. The interventions in the Kyriello River and AOSAK canal reaffirm the Region’s commitment to responding to citizens' needs through timely and substantial infrastructure projects.
