In the case of coliving, the allowance is expected to increase to €2,500.
The total expenditure for the increase of the Student Housing Allowance amounts to €15 million and is included in the new State Budget, which has already been submitted to the Parliament for a vote by the Ministry of Finance.
The amendment for the increase, which was included in the bill for private universities, has already been voted in the Parliament.
According to it, the following applies:
1. To the undergraduate students of the Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs), the Higher Schools of Tourism Education and the Merchant Marine Academies of Greece, as well as the Schools of Cyprus that are included in the system of Pan-Hellenic Examinations, 'Greek citizens or citizens of other countries of the European Union, an annual housing benefit equal to one thousand five hundred (€1,500.00) is granted.
In the case of a beneficiary who lives with another student in the same rented residence, an annual housing allowance equal to two thousand (€2,000.00) is granted.
Students studying for a second degree are not entitled to the allowance.
– The annual housing allowance is granted under the same conditions to the trainees of public Higher Vocational Training Schools (SAEK).
