Greece secures EIB's fianancing for port infrastrures

The cooperation agreement signed between the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy and the European Investment Bank comprises the financing facilities of port infrastructure on the islands as well as the provision of technical support to the beneficiary entities.

The bank assumes an advisory role in the implementation of the National Strategy for the Integrated Maritime Policy in the Island Area, which has been elaborated and promoted by the General Secretariat of the Aegean & Island Policy.

Specifically, the cooperation of the two sides refers to,

- In the financing of public projects of the "NEARCHOS" program through the a loan agreement of 200 million euros for the implementation of projects and infrastructures in the field of decarbonization of island ports, port infrastructures, desalination units and facilities, drinking water management networks, building infrastructures of YNANP responsibility in the island area from the Deposit and Loan Fund.

- In the provision of technical support for the creation of a complete digitized and simplified process of preparation, submission, management of funding applications from beneficiary bodies, and.

- In the preparation and submission by G.G. Aegean and Island Policy, to the European Investment Bank, a file for the creation of a permanent mechanism for the maturation of energy saving projects.

The cooperation agreement was signed between the Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Yiannis Plakiotakis and Hristo Stoykov - Director of Advisory Services of the European Investment Bank, as well as Yiannis Kaltsas, Head of Investment Team Greece & Cyprus. Present at the meeting were the Secretary General of the Aegean and Islands Policy and coordinator of the relevant initiatives, Manolis Koutoulakis, Alexandros Zakharov - Senior Advisor of the Invest EU Advisory Hub department and Yiannis Bouzopoulos - Financial Instruments Adviser, of the European Investment Bank.
