Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Mr. Nikos Tachiaos, visited ERGOSE premises, where he met with the Managing Director, Mr. Christos Palios, in the presence of members of the Board of Directors. and managers of the company.

The main subject of the meeting, as stated in the relevant announcement, was the progress of the projects implemented by ERGOSE on the country's national railway network, from Patras to Promachona and Idomeni, as well as those it plans for the expansion of the network, with absolute adherence to transport safety conditions.

The implementation of these projects, which complete the planning for the modernization of the main railway axis PATHE/P, is a priority of strategic importance for the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and ERGOSE.

With new contracted projects amounting to €438.5 million, the upgrade of 370 km of lines to a total of 920 km of railway network is completed. They primarily concern the installation of electrification, signaling, telecommunications and ETCS systems, which are compatible with European railway interoperability standards.

These are the following on the main axis:

Athens Railway Station: The second phase of development of the S.S. is in full progress. of Athens, a project that completes the renovation of the capital's central railway station and the underground connection with the Metro.

Kiato – Rododafni: The installation of electrification on the new 70.6 km railway line connecting Kiato and Rododafni is progressing according to planning.

Rododafni - Rio: Infrastructure, signalling, remote control and ETCS LEVEL 1 works are in full progress on a key railway project in the Peloponnese, such as the new 28.8 km long double track on the Rododafni - Rio section.

Undergrounding project in Sepolia: The project of undergrounding the railway corridor in Sepolia continues, concerning the construction of a quadruple railway corridor, with a total length of 2.36 km, of which 1.5 km will be fully underground.

Thessaloniki - Idomeni: The implementation of the installation project of a modern signaling system, remote control and ETCS LEVEL 1 in the Thessaloniki - Idomeni section, which includes the replacement of 37 track changes for signaling needs, is progressing steadily. With its completion, the existing electrified railway line leading to North Macedonia and from there to Central Europe will be upgraded.

Also, the contracts for the upgrading of the two branches of PATHE/P Larissa - Volos and Paleofarsalos - Kalambaka are in progress:

Larissa-Volos: The ongoing project concerns the installation of electrification, signaling - remote control, and ETCS LEVEL 1 on the existing single railway line, as well as the upgrading of the railway line in the Latomiou Railway Station - BIPE - Volos Railway Station section.

Paleofarsalos - Kalambaka: The project concerns the installation of an electrification system, signaling with remote control and ETCS LEVEL 1 on the existing single railway line, which also provides for the construction of a new bypass line at the Sofadon railway station.

The development of the works in these two sectors is directly related to the works planned by the OSE to restore the lines, which have been damaged due to the bad weather "Daniel", which hit the region in September 2023.

At the same time, however, the implementation of all other contracted projects for local upgrades on the PATHE/P railway axis continues, such as the installation of electrification systems on the suburban line Isthmos - Loutraki, the new railway station in Neos Panteleimonas Pieria, the new railway station in Kryoneri Attica and the construction of the Overpass in the S.S. area. Domokou.

In the context of upgrading the Greek railway, ERGOSE has already completed the tender documents for a very important railway project, which concerns the completion of the installation of the GSM-R radio coverage system along the entire length of the PATHE/P railway axis (Patra-Athens- Thessaloniki-Idomeni/ Promahonas).

Specifically, the project to be auctioned concerns the installation of GSM-R in the remaining sections: Kiato - Rio, Tithorea - Domokos, Thessaloniki - Idomeni and in the main branches of PATHE/P: Paleofarsalos - Kalambaka and Larissa - Volos.

With the completion of this project, a functional and unified communication system will be created along the Patras-Athens-Thessaloniki-Edomeni-Promahonas railway axis, which will be fully compatible with the interoperability standards of the European railways.

All projects implemented by ERGOSE are currently co-financed by EU funds.
