HRADF inks deal for a restoration in OAKA

The €5.5 million contract was signed for the restoration of the two entrances of the Athens Olympic Sports Center (OAKA).

According to HRADF' relevant announcement, the contract for the project of the complete restoration of the metal structures of the two entrances of the OAKA (Walls of Nations and Agora) was signed between the President of the Board of Directors of the OAKA, Ioanna Batsou and the representative of the Contracting company, " TOMI ABETE", Dimitris Pagratis, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Sports, Yannis Vroutsis, the Authorized Advisor of HRADF, Panagiotis Stamboulidis, the Coordinator General Director of OAKA, Konstantinos Halioris and executives of the Strategic Contracts Unit (PPF) of the Fund and the Technical Directorate of OAKA that make up the project teams.

The contract with a total value of 5,584,050.29 euros provides for maintenance, repair and restoration of construction defects at the two entrances of the OAKA and is expected to be completed within 6 months.

The Deputy Minister of Sports, Yiannis Vroutsis, underlined: "As a Government we are implementing our commitment, we are gradually utilizing the 111 million euros from the Recovery Fund for all the necessary works at OAKA and the emblematic Olympic center of our Greece, where the heart beats of our sport, will shine again. Within the next three years, it will once again be transformed into an ornament, a landmark not only for sports, but also for culture and entertainment, as it deserves, as it deserves in our society."

The Authorized Advisor of HRADF and Head of the Strategic Contracts Unit (PPF) Panagiotis Stamboulidis, said: "The signing of the 5.5 million euro contract for the upgrade of the two entrances of the OAKA is another step towards the modernization of the most emblematic sports infrastructure of the country. The PPF continues with efficiency, transparency and speed to complete critical tenders in order for OAKA to regain the position it deserves as an international center of culture and sports, with multiple national and economic benefits".

OAKA's Coordinating Director General, Konstantinos Halioris, said: "Today marks a new beginning for OAKA, focusing on renovation and environmental sustainability. We respect its history and take actions to make it more environmentally friendly and more modern, ensuring that it will continue to be a point of reference for generations to come."

In particular, the interventions include:

a) At the Wall of Nations, the execution of inspection works with non-destructive tests of critical elements of the structure, repair of problematic welds, ensuring the support of the hollow beam system, repairing construction defects, ensuring tightness inside the main beam and repainting the metal surfaces.

b) In the Market, the execution of inspection work with non-destructive tests of critical elements of the structure, repair of problematic welds, repair of manufacturing defects and repainting of metal surfaces,

c) In the two Entrance Shelters, the execution of inspection works with non-destructive tests of critical elements of the structure, repair of problematic welds, repair of construction defects and repainting of the metal surfaces,

d) Issuance of the necessary building permits, if required.

The Strategic Importance Contracts Unit of HRADF (PPF), as the implementing authority, matured and tendered the tender process. The HRADF, in collaboration with the TEE and the Ministry of Sports, have undertaken to effectively complete all the necessary procedures that will modernize and upgrade OAKA, the most important Olympic sports infrastructure of the country, with a total budget of 111 million euros (plus VAT) .
