METKA has been awarded the contract for the Static and Functional Restoration of the Canopies at the Central Stadium and the Velodrome of the Olympic Athletic Center of Athens (OAKA), after the completion of the evaluation of its bid, valued at €61.35 million, excluding VAT.

As announced by the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF), the contract for the project will be submitted to the Court of Auditors in the coming days for pre-contractual review.

The project encompasses the preparation of studies and the execution of works aimed at: a) restoring the necessary structural integrity of the metal constructions at the two canopies of the OAKA (Olympic Athletic Center of Athens), and b) the maintenance, repair, or replacement of elements of the metal structures and polycarbonate sheets of the canopies.

The project is expected to be completed within 14 months from the date the contract is signed with the selected contractor. Funding will be provided through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan "Greece 2.0," with financial support from the European Union's NextGenerationEU initiative.

The Public Properties Fund (PPF) has been entrusted with the development and tendering of the project on behalf of OAKA, as part of its collaborative efforts with the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE) and the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports for the comprehensive renovation of this vital Olympic infrastructure. The total budget for the modernization and upgrading of OAKA is €111 million (excluding VAT).
