By decision of the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Nikos Papathanasis, the funding for the upgrading of six playgrounds and the creation of two new ones in the Municipality of Athens, amounting to 1,100,000 euros, is included in the Development Program of Public Investments.

Specifically, two new playgrounds will be created on the streets of Lachanas and Chrysiidos, covering an area of 345 sq.m, and in Partheni Square, covering 245 sq.m. Additionally, existing playgrounds in Karkavitsa Square, Neapolis Square, and on the streets of Kymis and Aristomenous, Amphitritis and Altheos, Prometheus and Epidaurus, and Isaia Salonon and Axios will be upgraded.

According to the decision, the project includes the procurement and installation of playground equipment, urban furniture, required flooring (fall zones and pathways), and other materials for upgrades, based on the specifications of the applicable legislation.

Accessibility and the use of the playground equipment by people with disabilities is a crucial aspect of the project’s design, promoting an inclusive approach that encourages participation from all children in play, without exclusions.

The project will be implemented by the Municipality of Athens.
