A large flood control and protection project has recently been launched, that is expected to solve many problems in the municipality of Fylis.

The project comprises the construction of a network of rainwater drainage pipes and water collection wells on the streets of Pinio (from Fylis Avenue to Aegean Pelagos Street), Pindos (from the terminus to Aliakmonos Street), Karaiskaki (from 25th March Street to the OASA depot), Aegean Sea (from Aliakmonos to the confluence with Pinio).

The new flood protection project has a budget of 15 million euros and is financed by the Region of Attica. The total length of the pipelines is estimated at 3 km. and through them the rain will be channeled, initially to the retention lake of the City Park of Ano Liosion and from there through the Epyridon conduit, to Kifissos.

The project is expected to relieve the wider area and put an end to the flooding phenomena that often appeared on Piniou Street and the surrounding streets. During the autopsy conducted by the mayor of Phylis Christos Pappous, he mentioned the importance of the project and thanked the regional governor Giorgos Patoulis for his response and support in its implementation.
