The new luxury hotels, as mentioned in a related announcement, are Athos Palace, Pallini Beach, and Theophano Imperial in Kassandra, Halkidiki. The group will proceed with the complete renovation of the three units, with the aim of creating Ikos Kassandra, the first Ikos Grand Resort, setting new standards for luxury all-inclusive hospitality. This new strategic investment by the Sani/Ikos Group will amount to over €400 million.
Scheduled to open in April 2029, Ikos Kassandra will be the largest Ikos Resort to date, offering unique facilities and amenities that will further enhance the high standard of the all-inclusive experience that the Ikos brand has internationally established. The resort is located in the Kallithea area of Kassandra, just one hour from Thessaloniki International Airport, and spans across a 600-meter beachfront with panoramic views of Sithonia, the Toroneos Gulf, and the island of Kelyfos.
The luxurious resort will feature 750 rooms, suites, and villas, combining modern architecture with the natural beauty of the area. Set within 160 hectares, guests will enjoy lush gardens, both public and private pools, a spa, sports facilities, and areas designed exclusively for families and adults.
Ikos Kassandra and its central seaside pedestrian street will host over 30 restaurants and bars, offering options ranging from casual dining to Michelin-starred gastronomic experiences, as well as theaters, a spa, clubs for children and teenagers, sports academies, and immersive activities for all ages.
With the launch of Ikos Resorts in 2015, the Sani/Ikos Group redefined all-inclusive luxury by introducing the Unconditional Luxury model, combining refined European aesthetics, five-star services, award-winning gastronomy, and warm Greek hospitality. Celebrating 10 years of dynamic growth, the Ikos brand continues to evolve, focusing on quality and sustainability.
Today, the Group operates 12 award-winning, privately owned Sani Resort and Ikos Resorts in Greece (Halkidiki, Corfu, Kos) and Spain (Marbella-Estepona, Mallorca), with further expansion underway through three new five-star Ikos properties: Ikos Kissamos in Crete, Ikos Marbella in Spain, and Ikos Cortesia in Algarve, Portugal, which will open between 2026 and 2028, adding over 1,200 rooms, suites, and villas.
With the addition of Ikos Kassandra, the Group’s capacity will exceed 5,600 rooms by 2029. At the same time, significant investments are underway at Sani Resort, including the renovation and expansion of Sani Asterias, the renovation of Sani Club (both to be completed by April 2025), as well as the renovation of Sani Beach, which is planned in two phases through April 2028.
These developments are part of the Group's five-year investment plan of over €1 billion, aimed at strategic growth in the Mediterranean and creating value for destinations. During the construction phase, Ikos Kassandra will employ a total of 1,000 workers, while upon opening, it will offer 1,300 direct jobs. In line with its ongoing strategy, the Group's partnership with local producers and suppliers will strengthen the local economy and employment.
In the field of sustainability, the Sani/Ikos Group remains a leader, investing in innovation and sustainable hospitality. Through its ESG programs, Sani Green and Ikos Green, the Group is implementing carbon-neutral initiatives with a 2030 horizon, zero waste to landfill, the elimination of single-use plastics, and actions to protect local biodiversity, collaborating with environmental organizations and stakeholders. Additionally, the Group is developing targeted social responsibility initiatives with a significant impact on local communities.
The investment in Ikos Kassandra strengthens the dynamics of Greek tourism, further establishing Halkidiki as a top luxury destination in the Mediterranean, contributing to the expansion of Thessaloniki International Airport’s connectivity with major European markets, and enhancing accessibility and long-term development in the region.
