A new public awareness and education campaign on proper recycling practices and the promotion of recycling, with the central message "LEARN TO DO IT RIGHT," is being implemented by the Attica Region in collaboration with the Heracles Group, a member of Holcim.

The campaign, presented by the Governor of Attica, Nikos Hardalias, and the CEO of the Heracles Group, Dimitris Hanis, aims to educate citizens on the importance of proper recycling, highlighting the benefits for both individuals and the environment when waste is recycled responsibly.

Titled "LEARN TO DO IT RIGHT," the campaign uses clear and engaging language to encourage the public to adopt simple, everyday actions that have a significant impact on our lives and the environment. Its goals are twofold: to establish a national recycling culture based on sound principles and to improve Greece's recycling performance within the EU.

Governor Nikos Hardalias stated: “Environmental protection is undeniably a priority and challenge for the Region. We are committed to supporting clear plans that create value for citizens. In such initiatives, the Region will lead and assist. This partnership is a positive example for corporations on how to manage Corporate Social Responsibility programs. It shows that when the private sector and public administration collaborate effectively, citizens always benefit."

Dimitris Hanis, CEO of the Heracles Group, emphasized the importance of recycling for sustainability. He said: "In today's environmentally challenged world, recycling offers immeasurable benefits by reducing pollution, conserving resources, saving energy, creating jobs, and contributing to sustainable development. Our goal with this campaign, in partnership with the Attica Region, is to promote best recycling practices. Recycling is essential to our way of life, applying to businesses, households, and public spaces. Together, the State, businesses, and society can reset how we manage and recycle waste, giving every material a second life."

The initiative is structured around two core pillars: awareness and education, with the aim of integrating recycling practices into daily life to secure a sustainable future for future generations.

The immerge app, developed in collaboration with the Research Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (EPISEY) of the National Technical University of Athens (School of Electrical and Computer Engineering) and its spin-off technology company, CogniSensus, helps familiarize the public with proper recycling practices. Available for iOS and Android, immerge uses Extended Reality (XR) to bring recycling-related information to life. It provides updated content, and its AI-driven scanner identifies everyday items, enhancing the learning experience.
