Staycity Group extends footprint to Vienna and Lisbon

Institutional investment interest in the European hospitality sector is on the rise.

Staycity Group, the Dublin-based Irish company, continues its dynamic expansion across Europe with the opening of two new units of its lifestyle boutique brand 'Wilde' in Vienna and Lisbon.

According to the company, the new investments reaffirm the continued appeal of the aparthotel model, at a time when the sector is attracting increasing institutional investment interest.

In Vienna, Wilde Vienna Fleischmarkt is housed in a 300-year-old historic building in the heart of the Austrian capital and features 136 rooms. The property combines classic hotel rooms with studios and one- or two-bedroom apartments, catering both to short-stay visitors and business travelers seeking extended stays. On the ground floor, Oscar’s hosts the lobby, bar, café, and shop, with interior design by Stephanie Barba Mendoza, highlighting the building’s characteristic Viennese arches and large openings. In collaboration with local deli owner Marco Simonis, Oscar’s aims to revive the authentic Viennese café culture, offering an all-day menu with local specialties.

Similarly, Wilde Lisbon Liberdade has 95 rooms and is located on Rua Castilho, within walking distance of Marques de Pombal metro station and Avenida da Liberdade. The property offers hotel rooms—some with private terraces on the ninth floor—as well as studio apartments accommodating up to four guests. Amenities include a 30-seat co-working space, bar, lounge, café-deli, restaurant, and an interior courtyard with a central fountain. The design draws inspiration from Lisbon’s maritime history and its relationship with the Tagus River.

The expansion of Wilde comes at a time when the aparthotel model is considered highly attractive to investors, as it combines the flexibility of self-catering accommodations with the services of a hotel. Additionally, stricter regulations on short-term rentals in many European cities reinforce professionally managed aparthotels as an intermediate solution between hotels and private residences.
